Upload one clear photo of your child. Our AI extracts a stable likeness — facial features, hair, skin tone — and locks it as a reference for every panel. We then generate a story with up to 8 pages where your child looks like themselves on every page.

Will my child look consistent across all 8 pages?

Yes. Character consistency is the core of our pipeline. The same face, hair, and outfit cues appear on every page, in the art style you choose.

Is my child's photo safe? Do you train AI on it?

Accepted Answer

Your photo is stored privately in your account and used only to generate your comic. We do not sell photos and we do not use them to train public AI models. You can delete your photos and comics anytime from your dashboard.

What ages is HeroKid.AI for?

Comics are designed for kids ages 3–12. We write every story prompt for a kid-friendly tone — no scary themes, no inappropriate content, no villains who look like your child — and our image model applies its own safety systems. If anything looks off, contact support and we'll make it right.

How long does it take to create a comic?

My photo won't upload — what should I do?

Accepted Answer

Most upload failures come down to file size or format. Photos must be JPG, PNG, or HEIC and under 15 MB. If you're on mobile, try uploading from your Photos app instead of the camera. If you're on a slow connection, switch to Wi-Fi and try again. Still stuck? Send us the file via the contact form below and we'll upload it for you.

Question 14

I got a "face not detected" error. Why?

Our AI needs to clearly see one face to lock in your child's likeness. Common causes: sunglasses, hats covering the forehead, side profiles, or the face being too small in the frame. Use a front-facing photo where the face fills at least 25% of the image, eyes are visible, and lighting is even.

Question 15

The preview came out blurry or low-quality.

Accepted Answer

Blurry previews almost always trace back to the source photo. Avoid motion blur, screenshots of other photos, heavily filtered Instagram shots, or images smaller than 512×512 pixels. A sharp, well-lit phone photo taken in daylight gives the best results. Re-upload a clearer photo and regenerate — previews are free.

Question 16

My child doesn't look quite like themselves in some panels.

Accepted Answer

Character consistency improves dramatically with a better reference photo. Use a recent, sharp, front-facing photo with a plain background and even lighting. Avoid group photos, photos with strong shadows on the face, or heavily edited images. If 1–2 panels still look off after regeneration, contact us with the order ID and we'll re-render those panels at no charge.

Question 17

The comic is taking longer than 5 minutes to generate.

Accepted Answer

Most comics finish in 3–6 minutes. During peak hours (evenings US/EU time) it can stretch to 10–15 minutes. Keep the tab open — you'll get an email the moment it's ready. If it's been over 30 minutes with no email, refresh your dashboard or contact support with your order ID.

Question 18

I see "generation failed" — what now?

Generation failures are rare and almost always retry-able. We never charge you for a failed generation. Open your dashboard, click "Retry" on the comic, and we'll restart the pipeline. If it fails twice in a row, contact support with the order ID — we'll investigate and refund or re-run on us.

Question 19

I never got my finished comic email.

Accepted Answer

Check spam and promotions folders first — emails from notify@herokid.ai sometimes land there. Add us to your contacts so future emails go to the inbox. The finished comic is also always available in your dashboard under "My Comics" once generation completes.

Question 20

The download or print PDF won't open.

Accepted Answer

Make sure you're opening the PDF in a current PDF viewer (Preview, Adobe Reader, or your browser). If the file appears corrupted, re-download from the dashboard — the link refreshes a new copy each time. On mobile, save to Files first, then open from there.
