Parent-Controlled
Accounts require an 18+ parent/guardian attestation at signup. Parents pick the theme, the adventure, and the tone — nothing generates until a grown-up clicks Create.
No Open Chat
Children never talk to an AI. There is no free-form chatbot, no DMs, no companion AI. Period.
No Scary Content
Every generated story passes a second AI safety classifier that blocks violence, horror, romance, real-world tragedy, and anything age-inappropriate. Flagged stories are regenerated automatically.
Private by Default
Your child's photo and stories are stored in a private, account-scoped vault enforced by database-level access rules. Never sold, never used to train public models.

Content moderation
Every story HeroKid.AI generates passes through layered safety filters before a single word reaches your child. We block:
- Violence, weapons, blood, or peril framed realistically
- Horror, jump scares, monsters that frighten young children
- Romance, dating, or any adult themes
- Real-world tragedy, illness, death, or trauma
- Political, religious, or ideological content not chosen by the parent
- Brand names, copyrighted characters, or real public figures
If our filters flag a generation, the story is regenerated automatically — your child only ever sees the final, parent-safe version.
Image & photo policy
Why we ask for a photo: The photo is used only to build a private character likeness so the illustrated hero looks like your child across every page.
Where it's stored: Photos are stored in a private storage bucket scoped to your account, protected by database-level row security. Only you can access the original.
Which AI we use: Art and text are generated through Google's Gemini API. Under Google's API terms, inputs sent through this API are not used to train Google's public models. We never share photos with advertisers or other third parties.
What we never do: We never sell your photos, never use them to train any AI model ourselves, and never share them with advertisers or third parties.
Your control: You can delete a hero profile — and its photo — at any time from your account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Parent consent: Signup requires confirming you're 18+ and the parent or legal guardian. Only a parent or guardian should upload a child's photo.
Children's privacy (COPPA-aligned)
HeroKid.AI accounts are created by parents and guardians — not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
The information we collect to make a story (your child's first name, age, a photo, and chosen adventure themes) is provided by you as the parent, used solely to generate the personalized story, and never used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing.
You can review, export, or delete any data tied to your child at any time from your account. To request full account deletion, email support@herokid.ai.
